Zak’s Vision

Zak Roland started his food journey young; how could he not? The Roland family has always enjoyed food around the table with whomever happened to be at the house. In high school he worked at The Grainery in Mount Vernon, Washington, where he learned to drive a forklift (very handy at the winery) and he learned the dynamics of a busy kitchen at The Longfellow Café…It was his idea to build a wood-fired pizza oven so our customers would have something delicious to eat with wine.

A Team Effort

We posed the idea to our customers and they said “yes!” So we asked them to help us build it. With the help of GoFund Me, we raised over $8,000. We ordered the oven and a month later it came—in a crate, in pieces!

Look at us Now

We built it together with our friends and customers. There is no better feeling than accomplishing a goal. Our Italian inspired pizza is now lovingly served to the community using imported flour and tomatoes, and locally sourced fresh produce and charcuterie.
