Style: Fruity Italian varietal that is not too heavy and tastes great with food.
Tasting Notes: This wine has a beautiful violet color with a floral nose to go with it. Full of red cherry, raspberry, and pomegranate flavors. It has a note of earthiness with a bright acidity. Simply fabulous. It is easy to drink and you don’t have to think much about it. Just drink it and enjoy. Pair with pizza, pasta, and red sauces.
Awards: Best Italian varietal 2013 Wine Press Northwest, 2014 rated excellent by Wine Press Northwest
These were the first grapes Roland Wines acquired from Red Willow Vineyard. “It really was a miracle that grower Mike Saurer reached out to us”. I will never forget the day I met him at an industry conference. We sat next to each other not knowing each other. I was an amateur at the time, but Mike was curious why I was at the convention. I told him that I wanted to learn as much as I could about winemaking. He offered me some Dolcetto and we have been friends ever since. When I caught up with the friend who accompanied me to the conference, I told him that a guy had offered me some grapes. When he heard who it was his jaw dropped. He told me that Mike owned one of the best vineyards in the state!
